The award is for a book published in Canada that is a hybrid genre, or straddles two or more genres.
The VMI Betsy Warland Between Genres Award was announced at the Blending Genres Event at the Vancouver Writers Fest a few days ago. VMI director Elee Kraljii Gardiner hosted a panel with Helen Cova (Autosarcophagy), Jason Guriel (The Full Moon Whaling Chronicles) and Denison Avenue author Christina Wong and illustrator Daniel Innes.

Our fall was stacked with events and announcements, including the winner of the VMI Betsy Warland Between Genres Award. Remnants by Celine Huyghebaert, translated from the French by Aleshia Jensen for Book*hug Press was selected by judge Susan Olding.
Vancouver Manuscript Intensive is delighted to announce the recipient of the 2023 Yosef Wosk VMI Fellowship. Shantell Powell will be working with VMI Mentor Gurjinder Basran on her fiction project during the January-to-June Six Month Intensive.
